Guide

Social: friends, messages and the Tribunal

Everything social in StatBlockFit is optional and quiet by default. Posts go to friends, the global feed stays off until you turn it on, and a profile never shows your diary or your training log.

What is on the Social tab

In the appSocialBoth dashboards

The Social tab is the fourth tab in both dashboards. It opens on the feed, with a row of doors above it to the Tribunal, your friends and your messages. Everything on it is optional, and nothing on it shows your diary, your weight or your training log to anyone.

The row of buttons above the feed, each an icon with its name. The Tribunal, Friends and Messages are in both dashboards.

Under that row sits the composer bar, which reads What did you train today?, with three chips: Photo, Routine and Meal. Tapping the bar, a chip or the + button beside the title opens a new post. Below that are the feed's scope chips and a search field, Search posts, or @handle, which matches the words of a post, a handle or a display name.

Pull the feed down to refresh it. The feed, your friends and your inbox all reload together, so a new request shows on the Friends badge at the same time.

How the feed works: posting, likes and comments

In the appSocialBoth dashboards

The feed has up to three scopes, chosen with the chips above it.

Posts load 25 at a time, newest first; Load more at the bottom fetches the next 25.
ScopeWhat it shows
FriendsYour own posts and posts by people you have accepted as friends. This is where the feed opens.
YoursYour own posts only.
GlobalEvery post you are allowed to see, from anyone. The chip only appears once you turn on Global feed in Settings, under Privacy, data and legal. It is off for every new account.

Writing a post

  1. Open the composer

Tap the + button beside the title, the composer bar, or one of its chips. The screen is New post.

  2. Write something

The field reads What happened? and counts your characters as you type. A post needs at least one of: text, a photo, or an attachment.

  3. Add a photo, if you want one

Tap Photo, then choose Take a photo or Choose from library. The picture is resized and re-encoded on your phone before it is uploaded, which removes its location data. Remove photo takes it off again.

  4. Attach a routine, a meal or your plan

Attach lists your routines as Routine · …, your saved meals as Meal · …, and Your weekly meal plan. The post shows a small card with the routine's number of days, the meal's calories per serving, or the plan's number of planned items.

  5. Choose who can see it

Under Who can see it, pick Friends (the default) or Public, then tap Post.

Likes, comments and deleting

Tap the four-pointed spark under a post to like it, and tap it again to take the like back. The speech bubble beside it, or the post itself, opens the post, where Write a reply and Reply add a reply; replies are listed oldest first. The author hears about a like and a comment in their inbox, and never about their own.

The ··· button on your own post offers Delete post, which removes it for everyone along with its likes and comments. On someone else's post it offers Report this post and View profile. You can delete your own comments, and any comment left on your own post; anyone else's can be reported from the ··· beside it.

How to add friends and read your inbox

In the appSocialFriendsBoth dashboards

Friendship is mutual: one of you sends a request and the other accepts it. Being friends is what lets you see each other's friends-only posts, open a friends-only profile, and send direct messages.

  1. Find the handle

Ask your friend for their handle. In Add by handle, type it (with or without the @). Handles are not case-sensitive.

  2. Send the request

Tap Send request. It waits under Sent, marked Pending, until they answer.

  3. They accept

Your request appears for them under Waiting for you, with Accept and Decline. Once accepted, you both appear under Friends, and the person who asked gets a line in their inbox saying so.

Each friend's row has Message, which opens a conversation, and Remove, which ends the friendship for both of you. Tapping the name opens their profile.

The inbox

The bottom of the Friends screen is your Inbox, with a count of new items. It holds your latest 30 notifications: friend requests and acceptances, new direct messages, likes and comments on your posts, and in StatBlockRPG, duel updates and a friend summoning your character. Tap a notification to mark it read; it does not open anything.

Your profile: what people see, and who can see it

In the appProfileStatBlockPro

In the appSocialYour profileStatBlockRPG

Your profile is the page other people open from your name. In StatBlockPro it is the fifth tab, Profile; in StatBlockRPG, where that slot is the Arena, it is the Your profile button in the row above the feed on the Social tab.

It shows your name and @handle, your picture, how many friends you have, your bio and when you joined. Below that are three tabs, Meals, Exercises and Posts; it opens on Posts. Meals and Exercises hold only what you chose to pin. A profile never shows a food diary or a training log.

Someone viewing in StatBlockRPG also sees your Power and, once you have one, your archetype, and by default your six stat levels and your Arena record. Someone viewing in StatBlockPro sees none of the game, whatever dashboard you use yourself.

Who can open it

The three choices under Who can see your profile, with the app's own explanation of each.
SettingWhat it means
PublicAnyone using StatBlockFit can find your profile and read your public posts. This is the setting every account starts on.
FriendsOnly people you have accepted can open your profile. You stay off the leaderboard.
PrivateNobody but you. Your posts to friends still reach them; your profile does not open.

Editing your profile

  1. Open it

On your own profile, tap Edit. The screen is Your profile.

  2. Picture

Change picture offers Choose from library, Take a photo and Use my character. Your character is the default, so you never need to set one; an uploaded picture has its location data removed. In StatBlockRPG, Edit your avatar opens the avatar creator (see the character guide).

  3. Name and bio

    Fill in Name and Bio.

  4. Pins

Next to Pinned, tap Add to pin one of your routines or saved meals. Other people see pins as a list to look at; they cannot open or copy them from your profile.

  5. Who can see it

Choose under Who can see your profile, then tap Save.

How direct messages work, and what Import does

In the appSocialMessagesBoth dashboards

Direct messages are for handing a friend something they can use: a routine, a saved meal, or a day of your meal plan, which they add to their own tracker in one tap. A coach can send a client a plan; a training partner can send the programme you both run.

You can message someone when you are both 18 or over, you have accepted each other as friends, and neither of you has blocked the other.

  1. Start from the friend

Open Social, then Friends, and tap Message next to them. This is the way to start a conversation; after that it is listed under Messages.

  2. Attach something

Tap Attach. The question is What do you want to send?, and the choices are A routine, A meal and A day of your meal plan, plus Your stat block and Challenge to a duel in StatBlockRPG. Only days of the plan that have something on them are offered.

  3. Check and send

What you picked sits above the text field with Remove beside it. Add a message if you like, then tap Send.

There are shortcuts too. Share next to a meal under Your meals, Share Wednesday in the meal planner, and Share your stat block on the StatBlockRPG character sheet each open your friends list with the note “Choose who to send it to. Tap Message next to a friend.”

Opening a conversation marks what you received as read, and new messages appear while it is open.

A conversation with a routine and a day of a meal plan in it, as StatBlockPro draws it: the app's own screen, redrawn. A direct message thread with Ada Lindqvist. Her first message carries a routine called Knee rehab, phase 1 with an Import routine button; the reply says Thanks, I start on Monday; her second message carries Wednesday of her meal plan, four items, with an Add to your plan button. The composer at the bottom has Attach, Write a message and Send.

What each attachment does for the person who receives it

The button appears only on messages you received, never on your own.

Stat blocks and duels can be sent from StatBlockRPG only.
AttachmentButtonWhat you getWhat does not travel
RoutineImport routineA private copy in your routines: every day and exercise, the sets, rep ranges, RPE, rest times, supersets and progression settings, and the sender's notes. It copies the routine as it is when you tap, so later edits by the sender are included. The prescribed weights. The app says so: the weights start from your own sessions rather than the sender's.
MealAdd to your mealsA copy in your saved meals, with its calories and macros worked out again from the ingredients.A meal that contains a custom food only the sender can see cannot be copied.
Meal planAdd to your planThat weekday in your own meal plan, exactly as it was when it was sent. The items you had not pinned on that weekday are replaced; pinned items stay. The sender's portions: foods from the catalog are resized to your own calorie target. A saved meal in that day arrives as a named line without calories, and the reply says how many items are not counted in your totals.
Stat blockNoneA snapshot of six stat levels and Power, as they were when it was sent. A StatBlockPro reader sees a single line instead of the numbers.Nothing is copied.
DuelAccept or DeclineA challenge. See duels below.A StatBlockPro reader sees a line with no buttons.

Duels between friends

In StatBlockRPG, Challenge to a duel sends a challenge inside the conversation: Live duel, both online now, or Async duel, fought against a snapshot. Your friend answers with Accept or Decline, and you can Withdraw a challenge nobody has answered. Once it is accepted, Fight opens the fight (in an async duel, only the challenger fights), and the result lands in the conversation.

How the Tribunal reviews big entries

In the appSocialTribunalBoth dashboards

When one day of one activity is large enough, the entry is held until other people agree it happened. In StatBlockPro it does not count until then; in StatBlockRPG its experience, its buff and its streak credit wait. An entry nobody reviews still counts once its deadline passes.

Each activity has its own line, measured on that day's total across every log of it. A few of them:

One day's total of one activity. Most days never come near these.
ActivityHeld for review from about
Lifting Session36 sets
Run42 km
Ride40 km
Steps35,715 steps
Reading (pages)112 pages

When one of your entries is held

  1. Find it

Open Social, then Tribunal. Your held entries are under Yours, each showing how many of the 5 reviews are in.

  2. Add a photo, if you have one

Tap Add a photo; until you do, the entry is reviewed on its claim alone. On Add your proof, take or choose the picture (a watch screen, a machine display), add a caption of up to 140 characters if you like, and tap Send to the Tribunal.

  3. Choose whether to share it

Under Share it once verified, pick Keep private, Friends or Public. If the entry is confirmed, it is posted to the feed for the audience you chose, with a Verified card. A rejected entry is never posted, and reviewers never see who you are whichever you pick.

Reviewing other people's entries

Reviewing is off until you turn it on, because it shows you photographs other people uploaded. On the Tribunal screen, tap Turn reviewing on, or turn on Review proof photos in Settings under Privacy, data and legal. It is open to accounts 18 and over, and you can turn it off at any time.

  1. Read the claim

Under To review, each claim is headed Someone logged and is written by the app itself: the activity, the amount, and the time and date. If the person added a photo and a caption, you see those too. You are never told who it is.

  2. Judge it

Tap Looks real or Does not add up. The app's own guidance: judge whether the entry is plausible, not whether you could do it. If something is wrong with it beyond that, use Report this.

The next claim you are handed is the one closest to its deadline; you cannot choose which one you get, and you are never handed your own or one from an account either of you has blocked. Each vote is final once cast, and the person who logged the entry never sees who voted or how.

How to report or block someone

Anything another person wrote or posted can be reported from inside the app, and anyone can be blocked. Reporting asks for a review; blocking takes effect straight away.

To reportDo this
A postThe ··· button on the post, then Report this post
A replyThe ··· beside the reply, then Report this comment
A profileReport this profile at the bottom of their profile
A direct messagePress and hold a message you received
A Tribunal entryReport this under the claim
  1. Pick a reason

The sheet asks What is wrong with it? and lists Harassment or bullying, Hate speech, Spam or scam, Sexual content, Violence or threats, Self-harm or eating disorder, Something illegal, Something else. A Tribunal entry also offers The claim is fabricated.

  2. Add detail

Something else asks you to say what happened; for the others, detail is optional. Up to 1,000 characters.

  3. Send it

Tap Send report. The person is not told who reported them.

The app's promise is plain: Somebody reviews every report within 24 hours. Reporting does not block them. If you want them out of your app straight away, block them too.

Blocking

In the appSocialTheir profileBlockBoth dashboards

Open the person's profile and tap Block at the bottom, then confirm. They are not told. From then on, in both directions: posts and replies are hidden, profiles do not open and the handle cannot be found, and no new friend request, message or duel can be sent. You are never handed each other's Tribunal entries, and you drop out of each other's view of the leaderboard.

To undo it, go to Friends, find them under Blocked and tap Unblock.

The leaderboard, and how to leave it

In the appArenaLeaderboardStatBlockRPG

The leaderboard ranks accounts by their Arena rating (ELO). Global ranks everyone listed; Friends ranks you against your accepted friends. Each row shows the rank, the name, the rating and the wins and losses, and tapping it opens that profile. How ratings move is in the Arena guide.

An account is listed when its profile is Public, it is 18 or over, and Show on leaderboards is on. To leave, go to Settings, open Privacy, data and legal and turn Show on leaderboards off; that chip is in both dashboards. Setting your profile to Friends or Private takes you off as well.

Guardian Mode: the social limits for 13 to 17 year olds

StatBlockFit asks for a date of birth when you set up your account. Nobody under 13 can finish setting one up, and an account for someone aged 13 to 17 runs in Guardian Mode. The limits are applied on the server from that date of birth; they are not settings, and the app says so where they apply.

What changes for an account aged 13 to 17.
AreaIn Guardian Mode
ProfileNever Public: choosing it sets the profile to Private. The profile does not open for anyone else, friends included.
Being foundCannot be found by handle, and never appears on the leaderboard.
Profile pictureNo uploaded picture. The drawn character stays as the picture.
PostsFriends only, and no photos. Text, routines, meals and the meal plan can be posted to friends.
Direct messagesNone, in either direction: no one can message the account and it cannot message anyone. The Message button and the Share buttons for meals and plan days are hidden, so there are no stat-block shares or duel challenges by message either.
The TribunalCannot review other people's entries. A big entry of its own is not sent to review and cannot carry a photo: it is held for 48 hours and then counts, and it is never posted as a Verified card.
Ranked playNo ranked matches. The dungeons stay open.
Daily questsNever asked to review Tribunal entries.

What a Guardian Mode account can do: send friend requests to public adult accounts by handle, accept requests, post text and attachments to friends, like and reply, and report and block anyone, exactly as an adult account does.

Notification settings and where notifications land

In the appHomeSettingsNotificationsBoth dashboards

Every notification the app creates lands in the Inbox at the bottom of the Friends screen, and the Friends button on the Social tab shows how many are unread whenever no friend request is waiting. That list is where to look.

The Notifications group in Settings holds your preferences for notifications sent to your phone: All on (tap it to switch everything to All off) and one chip per kind of notification. Every chip starts on.

Social questions, answered

How do I send a workout routine to a friend?

Open Social, then Friends, and tap Message next to them. In the conversation, tap Attach, choose A routine and pick the routine, then Send. Your friend taps Import routine to get a private copy of their own. Your working weights are left out, so their own first sessions set theirs.

Why can I not see the Global feed?

The Global feed is off until you turn it on. Go to Settings, open Privacy, data and legal and tap Global feed. The Global chip then appears above the feed, beside Friends and Yours.

Who can see my StatBlockFit profile?

That depends on your visibility setting in Edit profile. Public (the default) lets anyone using StatBlockFit open it, Friends lets only people you have accepted, and Private lets nobody but you. A profile shows your name, picture, bio, friend count, the routines and meals you pinned, and the posts the viewer is allowed to see. It never shows your food diary or training log.

Why can I not message someone?

Direct messages work only between two accounts that are both 18 or over, have accepted each other as friends, and have not blocked each other. A conversation starts from Message next to the friend on the Friends screen.

What happens if nobody reviews my Tribunal entry?

It is decided at its deadline on whatever votes are in, and if nobody voted at all it counts. The deadline is set when the entry is held, from 24 to 72 hours depending on your standing, and 48 hours for a new account.

Can teenagers use the social features?

Accounts for 13 to 17 year olds run in Guardian Mode. They can send friend requests to adults with a public profile, post text and attachments to friends, and report and block. They cannot have a public or visible profile, post publicly or post photos, send or receive direct messages, review entries in the Tribunal, or play ranked matches. Under 13, an account cannot be set up.

How do I take myself off the leaderboard?

Go to Settings, open Privacy, data and legal and turn off Show on leaderboards. Setting your profile to Friends or Private also takes you off it. You still see your own rank privately.
