How the Vanguard trains
Strength first. Build the week around a few heavy compound lifts (a squat, a hinge, a press and a pull), keep the reps low to moderate, rest long enough between sets to lift well, and add load in small steps once every set reaches the top of its range. Everything else supports those lifts.
A sample week
| Day | Session |
|---|---|
| Day 1 | Squat, bench press, row |
| Day 2 | Walk or rest |
| Day 3 | Deadlift, overhead press, pull-ups |
| Day 4 | Walk or rest |
| Day 5 | Squat, incline press, row, carries |
| Weekend | Something you enjoy, easy |
Adjust it to your time and your recovery; any sensible week you keep beats a perfect one you drop.
Muscles to look after
This way of training leans on Quads, Chest, Upper back, Glutes. Their pages on the body map list the movements that train them and what balances them.
The Vanguard in StatBlockRPG
In the game edition you pick a lineage and a class when you create your character. The Vanguard starts you with +3 Strength and +1 Constitution, on top of what your lineage gives; Strength and every other stat then grow from the real activity you log. With each of the six lineages, the class makes one of these archetype titles:
- ForgebreakerEmberkin Vanguard
- SquallguardPalewind Vanguard
- BulwarkbornStonewake Vanguard
- DawnguardLuminarch Vanguard
- SurgebreakerTidebound Vanguard
- GildedguardGiltmoor Vanguard
