Treadmill Run

The Treadmill Run is cardio: steady work for the heart and lungs. Here is how to do it, step by step.

How to do it

How to do the Treadmill Run

Set up. Step onto the treadmill, clip the safety key to your clothing and start at a walking pace.

  1. Raise the speed gradually to an easy jog to warm up.
  2. Settle into your target pace.
  3. Slow down to a walk for a few minutes before stopping.

Form cues

  • Run tall with relaxed shoulders.
  • Land with your feet under you.
  • Stay near the middle of the belt.

Common mistakes

  • Holding the handrails while running.
  • Starting at full speed with no warm-up.

Muscles worked

It is conditioning for the whole body rather than for one muscle; the body map lights what it works on the way.

On the way: Quads and Calves.

Track it in StatBlockFit

In the StatBlockFit app the Treadmill Run is logged set by set: the app suggests your next weight after each session, times your rests, keeps your records and shows the 72-hour recovery of every muscle on its training map. The training guide explains how.
